Karyl Tymciw was born in Shawville, QC - the third of the four children of Rev. William & Joyce Daw.

As a pastor's duaghter, Karyl lived in several places while growing up and began singing as a small child along with her sister Suzanne.

Following elementary school, Karyl attended Rideau District School in Elgin, ON and after graduation, attended St. Lawrence College in Kingaton, ON graduating as a graphic designer.

As a child, singing was a family pastime. Karyl was also intrigued with the piano, self-teaching herself for hours a day from the time she can remember. She also took up the guitar/ukulele (in elementary school) and flute (in secondary school). Karyl used to accompany herself and her sister Suzanne with the baritone uke from age 9 to 13, and then with piano in her first group “the Triads”, aspiring after her big brothers (Dave & Frank) in the Proverbs. Together with a life-long friend Penny, this young group sang at churches, camps, nursing homes and dozens other special events from age 14 to 17. Into college, Karyl continued to sing regularly as part of a group "Manna" with her brother Frank. Karyl originally joined the Proverbs in the early 1980's.

Karyl met her future husband Paul Tymciw at a concert where the Proverbs performed together with the Living Hope Singers, of which Paul was a founding member. Karyl & Paul have been happily married since 1986, and have 3 fantastic and supportive children, Ashlie, Ben & Jacob. Karyl is proud to have seen all three of her teenagers make commitments to Christ.

Karyl presently works during the week as a Receptionist at Briargate Retirement Living Ctr - Amherstview, ON. In addition she works in the music ministry of the Proverbs on weekends. She also works regularly as a studio background vocalist.

Karyl originally joined the Proverbs (for about 4 years) in 1981, re-joining the group in the spring of 2008.

Karyl admires a myriad of musical styles, as well as singing with the Proverbs. She is a devoted wife and mom, and loves to ‘create’ in the kitchen. Karyl and her husband have also been active in their local church working extensively in Adult and Children's ministries, and on the Worship team. She currently has a cat named "Jazzie", and “Fred” – the fish.

Karyl enjoys traveling and singing in the Proverbs, along with her husband Paul, her brother Dave and sister-in-law Kathy.
